Phase 4 began in 2022 and continues integration with other lines of business and business areas for example, the Foreign Air Carriers (FAC), Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), and the Aircraft Evaluation Division (AED). This phase also introduced some new functionality, including Risk Profile and Activity Recording. Phase 3 began in 2016 and involved the implementation of 14 CFR parts 141, 142, and 147. Phase 2 began in 2010 and included the implementation of 14 CFR parts 121, 135, and 145 for certification and surveillance. The evolution of SAS began in 2006 with programming and development. In addition, there are other 14 CFR parts for which the work is documented in SAS. There are over 8,800 operating certificates managed in SAS. It is broken down as such because of the scope and size of this initiative. SAS is being developed and implemented in Phases over time. ![]()
